The interior is lined in coral leather with the “love letter” zipper compartment underneath the first flap, an “outer” slit pocket under the second flap, and an interior compartment with two open pockets separated by a “lipstick” compartment.

Crafted in Lambskin leather, the Chanel Classic Medium Coral Lambskin GHW has a truly luxurious feel. Being almost velvet-like to the touch, with a soft, rich sheen, Chanel Lambskin is notably one of the most popular choices out of all the skins. This sophisticated, luminous leather, offers luxurious finish- adding that final finesse to your look.

Lambskin is considered to be the highest quality leather, that can be expertly cut by hand and stitched by machine- i.e molded to absolute perfection. Hence, It’s no surprise that Chanel chose Lambskin as their core Classic leather. Originally, Classic Chanel’s were made from a jersey fabric. However, after the conception of the 2.55 flap bag in 1955, they introduced the quilted Lambskin design, which has since become synonymous with prestige and luxury.

Arguably the most famous Chanel bag of all time- Flap bag is a timeless icon. In February 1955, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel designed her most iconic handbag, the 2.55 flap. Not only did she create one of the most elegant fashion items ever, but also a piece that holds cultural value and has a significant history. In 50’s the Chanel 2.55 Flap signified fashion liberation: it was the first bag made with a shoulder strap, freeing women from the constraints of the impractical clutch. The practicality including the adjustable chain strap and accessible back slip pocket draw women to the bag.

The Chanel 2.55 Flap also manifested two iconic Chanel handbag details: diamond-stitched quilting, and the deep burgundy hue of the interior lining. The straps on the first Flap Bags were entirely made of chain metal. When materials became scarce, however, Coco improvised by weaving leather into the chain to reduce the amount of metal needed.

The classic Double Flap Bag is a must-have for every Chanel collector. The bag has only grown in popularity especially after Karl Lagerfeld stepped in as Creative Director in 1983. Lagerfeld updated the bag by tweaking its silhouette and most notably the marker – the CC turnlock closure, replacing the Mademoiselle lock. Given their timeless design and exquisite craftsmanship, one could argue that Chanel Classics truly are “investment pieces” as they rarely cease to lose their value.
